The future is full of surprises and may not always go the way I want but there are a few things that I hope to see in my future. I hope to have a comfortable lifestyle that doesn’t include being in the spotlight but being able to do what I want like to travel without worry. I plan to achieve this by going into either engineering or human sciences as a career. Both of these career paths have a lot of potential for jobs after graduation. I want to achieve a leadership role, a place where I can help people but also take charge to get things done. This will be supplemented by the honing of my leadership skills in college. My ultimate hope is to be in a position where I am comfortable and respected by my peers.

I have always been interested in living well. I don’t want to live lavishly but I don’t want to have a life that is barebone. I think that living well means living a comfortable life where I’m not used to money or otherwise. I’m not exactly sure what I want to do with my life but I know where I want to be in terms of lifestyle. I hope to achieve this by narrowing down my potential career paths and deciding on the one that I want to do, not the one that is best in terms of salary or benefits.

There are a couple of careers that I see myself doing. One being life sciences and the other being engineering. I’ve always enjoyed life sciences because my parents are doctors and that's the kind of household I was raised in. I’ve always been fascinated by the functions of the human body in response to pathogens. I would discuss medical questions with my parents from time to time to expand my knowledge on the subject. However, I have recently come to the conclusion that the amount of time it takes to become a doctor may be too lengthy for my liking. The average age for entering the medical field for doctors is about 28-30 years old. That would mean at least another decade of school and I’m a little uneasy about how keen I am to go down that path.

Another career I’d potentially like to enter is engineering. I’ve always had a knack for math but I’ve heard engineering can be a mixed bag. Generally speaking, it can be a handful because math can be complex and frustrating. Engineering is also quite competitive as it has a lot of opportunities in job fields. I can see myself struggling due to the competitive aspect as I tend to fall behind when it comes to competition. Regardless, I hope to see myself in either of these subjects because they are quite interesting and have a lot of job opportunities down the line and they are quite well respected.

Ultimately I hope to see myself doing well and enjoying life to the fullest. I truly can’t wait for college because I am so ecstatic about figuring out what I want to do as a career and how I want to navigate that. The real world seems quite daunting but I hope to figure it out and understand how it works and I think that college is a great first step
